In August 2005, supporters of Kleeman and Mike for Africa gave over $1300 to help the crisis in Niger.  If you made a donation, you will receive a receipt from CARE USA for the entire amount that you gave.  You also should have received a signed issue #1 Kleeman and Mike comic book.  Email if you have any questions.

Awareness is the first step.  But awareness alone does nothing.  It's in your power to help.  It's in your power to help.

I will still send a comic book to anyone who makes a donation to help the poor in Africa.  Make any donation to any organization which provides aid to Africa (a few quality organizations are listed below) and simply email or mail a copy of your receipt to me.  Remember to include your mailing address.  Randall Christopher PO Box 928618, San Diego, CA  92192-8618.

CRISIS IN NIGER

LONDON, England (AP) -- About 3.6 million people face starvation in the West African nation of Niger unless the international community responds urgently to the food crisis there, the aid agency Oxfam said Thursday.

"These babies' metabolism has completely changed," says Dr. Chantal Umutoni, the head of the intensive-care unit. "They don't eat on their own. They are letting themselves die."

comedy in the midst of crisis:
I was at the washingtonpost.com article on the crisis and they had advertising links at the bottom.  So you can either help the 800,000 children at risk of starvation via World Vision or you can "treat yourself to great savings at Target."

More comedy from the online Newsweek article:

* If you're not sure about making a donation, but you still want the comic book, just make a donation and you'll get the comic book.
