"I will siiing. Sing a new song." Yes indeedy. U2 kicked off the North American tour Monday night in San Diego. Drew called me up at the last minute with an extra ticket since Julie wasn't feeling up to it. We dashed there just in time for U2. They played tons of old stuff, including one of my all time favs- "40." Bono said they hadn't played it since 1983. They also played "Sunday Bloody Sunday" "New Year's Day" "Running to Stand Still" "Where the Streets Have No Name" "Pride" and even the ancient "Electric Co." If Drew ever gives me photos he took, I might post one.
I glanced outside my window in South Park today and saw something surprising. An ORIOLE. Flew away before I could get a pic. Drew said something about needing help animating a heron flying. I said, "Is it a heron? Herons fly with their necks in. I don't want to be animating some lame SANDHILL CRANE all flying with its neck out." It's true. Herons fly with their necks in and cranes fly with their necks out like geese. And did I ever tell you about the peregrine falcon I saw a couple months ago? I thought it was a dog or something across the street, then it flew up into a tree. I walked over to where it was and there was a half-eaten pigeon, making it more likely to be a falcon (as opposed to a hawk, which are much more common in the area). Walked over to the tree, sure enough, FALCON.
Ponder For America sent me a good link. http://www.pancakemountain.com. The Rollins clip in the Rufus section is a gem.
Check out the Spring 2005 poster I did for UCSD VisArts.

It's sick, is it not? I mean, is it or is it not SICK? Natalie Jeremijenko art directed it. One of her current real projects involves modifying robotic toy dogs to detect environmental toxins. Read more at http://www.calit2.net/articles/article.php?id=217

"Sun came up today and buuuurned my blues away..." I forgot how good that Mojave 3 song was off of Excuses for Travelers. I heard it on the awesome surf DVD Sprout. I got all inspired to dig out a bunch of old CD's to put'm on the computer last night. more

whoa, there's a couple new episodes up! Start with part 22 though, to refresh your memory. Hopefully the next installments won't be months in the making. And I'ma get to all those emails and sticker requests, too.
If you live in central Florida, Kleeman and Mike will be screening in the animated shorts program at the Florida Film Festival on April 13, 7pm and on April 15, 9:30pm. Hugo Giraud who worked on some of the animation will probably be there. He also worked on Dream On Silly Dreamer which will also screen there.

From my friend Colin:
Yet another month slips by unnoticed into the night, like the Po'ouli, vanishing from site... and still no sign of Kleeman and Mike... no sign ... of kleeman..... and ... . . . . . . . . . mike
I think that about sums it up. And I'm sorry. Been working and trying to get work. The good news is I've been able to scrounge up a little work. I have been able to work on the next two installments of FotP, but probably another week or so before I post 'm.
I posted a better quality version of the painting I did for Greatest Hits here.
Po'ouli fact sheet (thanks to Colin for the info)

Sorry I'm behind on emails and stickers! Going to FL for a couple weeks. Will catch up eventually.

Come out to the art show reception next Friday, Dec. 17th at Cassius King gallery in downtown San Diego. It's a group show called "Greatest Hits." I will have a piece in the show. Yes, it will be a new Kleeman and Mike comic, hand-painted! Show will be up through Jan. 9.

Copeland show last night was great, too. (No KnM-dressed-up-as-Copeland drawing. Sorry, Copeland)

I failed geography.
Don't forget. If you live in Oahu, go check out the rad SURF DRIVE-IN FILM FEST all weekend on the North Shore! Kleeman and Mike will be screening there along with a lot of great surf films. (KnM is Saturday) I so wish I could be there! My friend is visiting Hawaii this week and I was telling him to go to the surf drive-in, but he said he wasn't going to be on that island, and I was like, "Well just get a car and drive over there, dummy. Don't they have bridges?" (In my defense, I'm from FL and the Keys are all connected by bridges) My friend started laughing hysterically. Turns out some of the islands are separated by 50 miles or more, and they're also in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. THEY COULD STILL BUILD A BRIDGE THOUGH!
In other news, you will be assimilated. |
